Description
Auchengillan Outdoor Centre seeks Trainee Outdoor Instructors to join their team.
This is a residential placement, , which runs from Jan – Nov 2012 so you need to be comfortable staying away from home. It's an active placement so you need to have a keen interest in the outdoors. You should work well as part of a team. You should also have great communication skills to receive and impart information to user groups.
This scheme allows you to gain experience and qualifications leading to a possible career in the outdoor pursuits industry or development of a personal interest or pastime. You will receive training and be involved in instructing and supervising activities for young people, assisting with the maintenance of the centre, administration duties and other tasks as required.
It will provide you with a greater awareness of the role outdoor activities can play in the development of young people, give you greater understanding of social interaction and awareness of interpersonal relationships not to mention increasing your practical skills in a wide range of outdoor activities.
You will have the opportunity to gain the following qualifications:
* UKCC BCU Instructor Level 1
* Archery Leader (GNAS)
* Air Rifles Youth Proficiency Tutor (NSRA)
* Fencing club coach Level 1 (BFA)
* Trail Cycle Leader (SMBLA)
* Fist Aid
*BOF (Teaching Orienteering)
These posts are voluntary a subsistence allowance is available through the Project Scotland scheme and eligibility criteria applies.
Requirements
*Applicants to be between the ages of 18-25 years.
*Applicants should have a keen interest in working in the outdoors and show a willingness to train in a number of outdoor activities.
*The successful candidate should also have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
