Description

Are you looking for a demanding and highly rewarding management position, where everyday is different? Are you able to lead a team, whilst juggling many different responsibilities at the same time? Can you keep a team motivated even under the most pressurised of circumstances?

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real difference to someone’s holiday.  You will be the Manager of a team whose main aim is to ensure the students have fun and most important, a memorable experience this summer.

International Quest operates centres throughout the UK and Ireland. Our Activity Managers play a key role in our centres’ success; they are an essential resource and influence the day to day smooth running of a centre.  

You responsibilities will include:
  • Planning and managing the operation of the cultural, social, sports and excursion programme
  • Delivering a pre-agreed activity programme
  • Guiding, supervising and motivating a team of activity leaders and ensuring activities are run correctly and on time
  • Overseeing the welfare and supervision of students on activities
  • Providing a link with the activity and academic programmes
  • Confirming all facilities and booking details with external suppliers
  • Planning and managing staff rotas
  • Undertaking general administration, including submitting weekly timesheets to head office
  • Carrying out an Activity Leader induction day as well as regular Activity Leader observations
  • Carrying out daily meetings with the Activity Leaders and providing  guidance where needed
  • Liaising with the Centre Manager, Teaching Manager and University Staff
  • Ensuring a positive and fun working environment
  • Ensuring a high level of student safety and welfare

Requirements

  • You must be based in the UK as you will be expected to attend an assessment day or a face-to-face interview
  • Previous experience as activity manager or senior leader within a summer school environment
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks in order to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment
  • Approachability
  • Good organisational skills
  • Attendance at an activity manager training weekend in mid-June
Desirable:
  • Training and coaching experience
  • Residential experience
  • First Aid qualification
  • Experience supervising / working with minors
