Description
Activity Monitors required for St. Giles Summer schools.
Main Duties
Taking part in activities as directed by the Activity Organiser.
Preparing events such as talent contests and treasure hunts.
Supervising students on excursions and making sure they arrive at meeting points on time.
Assisting the Activity Organiser with the setting up of activities.
Checking that students are present at activities and excursions and safely returned.
Assisting with airport duties.
Helping deliver a high quality fun and safe activities’ programme for the students during their time at St. Giles.
Consulting with the Activity Organiser about suggestions and improvements to the programme.
Ensuring that all policies and health and safety procedures are followed during activities and excursions and adhere to British Council (our accreditation body) regulations.
Working with the Centre Manager, Activities Organiser and Group Leaders to ensure the activities programme suits the students and they make the most of their time at the centre.
Carrying out supervisory duties throughout the centre.
Upholding the reputation of St. Giles Junior Summer Courses throughout your work and employment.
Helping the Centre Manager when requested with any other duties which are required.
Compensation
Residential:
£276 per week for 48 hours per week. Any hours worked over this will be paid as overtime at £6.80 per hour. The work will be carried out over 6 days and evening work is required. This post is residential and includes residential accommodation and meals for the duration of your contract. Holiday pay at 12.1% of contracted weekly earnings will be paid at the end of your employment period.
Non-Residential;
£272 per week for 40 hours per week. Any hours worked over this will be paid as overtime at £6.80 per hour. The work will be carried out over 6 days and evening work is required. This post is non-residential. Holiday pay at 12.1% of earnings will be paid at the end of your employment period.
We will be running British Council accredited Junior Residential Summer Courses at Cambridge University (1st July to 14th August, ages 14 to 18), King’s School, Canterbury (8th July to 12th August, ages 13 to 17), The Junior King’s School, Canterbury (8th July to 12th August, ages 7 to 12), Cheltenham Ladies College (8th July to 5th August, ages 10 to 17), Kingston University (1st July to 19th August, ages 14 to 18), Manchester University (1st July to 5th August, ages 14 to 18),The University of Nottingham (24th June to 5th August, ages 10 to 17), Oxford Brookes University (24th June to 19th August, ages 14 to 18) Plymouth College (8th July to 5th August, ages 14 to 18) and Southampton Solent University (1st July to 5th August, ages 12 to 17).
Requirements
Applicants should be:
Enthusiastic
Able to work under pressure
Able to handle responsibility
Interested in working with children and teenagers
Creative
Computer literate
Interested in taking part in sports
Educated to A Level or equivalent (i.e. school leaving age 18)
Previous summer centre experience would be beneficial but not essential.

Additional Information
All Successful candidates will be required to attend a training session in London on June the 11th. Travel costs for this will be reimbursed.
