Main Duties
The minimum non-residential teaching/supervisory programme comprises twenty 50 minute lessons each week (16.7 hours), (Cambridge, 25 lessons), over 5 mornings or afternoons and 2.3 hours at the supervisory rate, paid as an allowance for staff meetings etc. The standard timetable of 37 hours a week also offers an additional 18 hours (Cambridge 13.8 hours) of non-teaching/supervisory duties each week although this is not guaranteed.
There may be variations on this format with teachers undertaking additional teaching or non-teaching/supervisory duties as available on either a regular or occasional basis and by agreement with the Centre Manager.
At induction, applicants can indicate if they would like to be included in the list of staff who would like to be offered additional work. When classes are held in both the morning and afternoon, teachers can agree to increase the teaching component and reduce the non-teaching component to maximise earnings.
