This is an ideal opportunity for an individual looking for their first job in the Outdoor industry. Patterdale Hall is a residential Outdoor Pursuits Centre based in Glenridding, Cumbria, which provides a variety of land and water based activities for school children and commercial clients.

During the course of the contract, you will be provided with the training and skills you need to develop a career in the Outdoor industry. As part of a small team you will gain significant group management experience, soft skills and technical skills far in advance of expectations than if you were part of a large team.

Successful applicants will work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership apprenticeship which is run in conjunction with Kendal College.

The annual salary for this position is £5,002 per annum. It is a fixed-term contract from mid-August 2012 to mid-July 2013. Accommodation is available.

Requirements

To be eligible for our Apprenticeship Instructor Training Scheme you must:

be a UK resident
be aged 18 or over
not already have an NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership or Sport & Recreation or any NVQ Level 3 or above qualification
not have a degree, HND, HNC or be studying towards a degree.

Patterdale Hall is the residential outdoor education centre managed by Bolton School in Lancashire. Primarily we offer courses to students of Bolton School but as an AALA licence holder we are also able to open our doors and operate residential and outdoor education programmes to commercial clients.

We are based at the Southern end of Lake Ullswater in Cumbria within easy reach of both the North West and North East of England population centres but also have welcomed clients from throughout the rest of the UK and overseas.

We offer a fully catered service for up to 66 clients, although are willing to talk to any group no matter how small, and will tailor make an activity programme should you require it.

At Patterdale Hall we can offer a full range of outdoor activities all based onsite and within easy reach of our front door. We have access to three local crags, our three boathouses where the kayaks, canoes and sailing dinghies are based, and the grounds where the ropes course, gorge and archery are based all just by taking a short walk from the Hall. Our ideal location means that there is no need to spend any time travelling in minibuses to get to the activities.

We can also offer sail training on board our yacht, Tenacity of Bolton, located at Glasson Dock. This is a purpose built 60 foot ferro cement Sail Training ketch built to pass MCA Coding standards. She is coded to take 10 crew and her 2 professional crew.
