A top performing County Council, we’re renowned for pioneering new and better ways of working – many of our staff job share, work flexi days or part-time. We’re the fifth largest County Council, and the sixth largest authority in the country. And, with a workforce larger than most UK companies and an annual budget of more than £1billion, we’re on a par with a FTSE 100 company.
An outstanding organisation
Our focus is on delivering outstanding services virtually every one of our residents uses one or more of our services every day – including schools, roads, fire and rescue , social services and libraries, to name but a few.
Focussing on meeting and anticipating the changing needs of our residents we have driven a major programme of change over the last ten years - revolutionising everything from where we work to the services we provide. In short, we’re shaping the future of local government.
There are still challenges in store. We want to make Surrey an even better place to live, by providing our million strong community with truly exceptional services – and you with a career to match.
We created one of the first integrated children’s services in the country and we are now pioneering an approach to social care that takes this one step further and supports the changing service needs of individuals as they make the transition into adulthood. We have also established the first standalone policy directorate in local government, enabling a clear focus on strategic policy making and performance management while freeing up services to concentrate on delivery.
