Description

JOB TITLE: Accounts Assistant

OBJECTIVE:

To assist with all accounting and bookkeeping duties within the Firm

REPORTS TO:

Practice Manager/Directors

KEY TASKS:

* Bookkeeping and accounts maintenance using the Firm’s accountancy package

* Banking including reconciliation in accordance with Solicitors Accounts Rules

* The preparation of cheques and the processing of bank transfers

* The control of designated client deposit accounts

* The administration of the purchase ledger

* To assist with credit control

* Processing invoices

* Maintenance and administration of the Firm’s petty cash system

* To undertake specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self development

* Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm

JOB SKILLS REQUIREMENT:

SKILLS:

Essential:

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong word processing

Literate, numerate and accurate. Excel.

KNOWLEDGE:

Essential:

Knowledge of the Solicitors’ accounts rules

Desirable:

A recognised accounts qualification

Knowledge of the Firm’s accounting software

Knowledge of public funding

EXPERIENCE:

Desirable:

Previous experience in a Solicitors office
