Description

Temp Administrator part time 16 hours per week

based Moss Side/ Manchester Central Library

pay £10.00

start 5th March - 3 weeks

You would be responsible for providing support to a visually impaired person.

The role involves

Read out aloud (to the client or onto a recording device) printed post and other documents including newsletters, reports, etc.

Under direction, to read out printed forms and complete them in clear handwriting with answers given by the client.

To alter the visual layout of documents under direction. For example, import and manipulate images in word documents, add other graphics, fonts, etc.

To read aloud and proof read documents, for example, highlighting incorrect spacing in lines/words, poor printing/photocopying quality, incorrect capital letters, changes in font size/style.

To describe historical artefacts, photographs, documents (in terms of print quality etc).

To navigate and read aloud complex, inaccessible websites.

To complete, under direction, electronic forms on the web.

To take notes in meetings and at external events (for example meeting notes, monitoring information for participants),

To work unobtrusively in meetings and external events.

To guide the client at events being held outside the office and to give visual descriptions, for example at information sharing events the layout of the room, which organisations are present, what leaflets and other information is displayed on stalls.

All tasks will be done under direction, and instruction on how to guide the client will be given.

The candidate would be expected to:

Have a clear reading voice and good level of literacy.

Have a good standard of IT skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer and Excel.

Be prepared to work under direction and follow instructions.

Be prepared to learn how to guide a visually impaired person to her requirements.

Be prepared to undertake an unobtrusive occupation (such as reading) during times when not required.
