Description

A successful and growing company specialising in defence communications is seeking a part-time Project Support Officer to support an existing Project Manager and Business Development Manager with the delivery of current contracts and securing of future business in the military communications domain.

The company is a financially stable and nested within a larger Group, operating from attractive premises between Redhill and Gatwick Airport.

The role

The successful candidate will support the delivery of solutions to our customers’ requirements to required time, cost and quality standards in addition to the generation of business development products (e.g. quotes). The Project Support Officer will report to the Project Manager and will receive day-to-day tasking from both the Project Manager and Business Development Manager.

Responsibilities will include:
• Create and deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
• Identify resources and assign responsibilities.
• Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project(s) including risk.
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored.
• Work closely with relevant stake holders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project(s).
• Understand basic revenue models and P/L; support the meeting of financial objectives by forecasting requirements; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances and initiating corrective actions.
• Support the definition and documentation of requirements.
• Support the reporting of the quality, cost and time envelopes of projects.
• Support business development by generating products.

The candidate

Knowledge and skills

Essential
• Project experience.
• GCSEs or equivalent at grades A-B in core subjects such as Maths, Science, English, History etc.
• Experience in a business environment.
• Computer literate – experienced with Microsoft Office applications; specifically MS Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Desirable:

• Project Management qualification and experience.
• Defence and/or security experience.
• Valid driving License.

Conditions and benefits

Working hours: 25 hours / week over 5 days – negotiable.
Working location: office based with occasional working from home at line manager discretion.
Bonus: the company operates a discretionary bonus scheme which is performance related.
Pension: contributory with the company matching contributions up to 5%.

Holiday: 25 days plus statutory bank holidays
