It has been announced today that Wagamama and TGI Fridays were among hospitality sector employers who have been fined for failing to comply with national minimum wage legislation.
Wagamama has repaid an average of £50 to 2,630 employees. TGI Friday's repaid £25 each to 2,300 staff.Both companies had claims relating to staff uniform that employees were being asked to provide themselves such as black jeans, skirts or shoes. These requirements were interpreted as a staff uniform which should have been covered by the employer.In total, 179 employers were fined £1.3m by the government for underpaying their staff.Read full articleSource: BBC News
