Description

The role of the Compliance Officer includes responsibility for checking candidate files ensuring Smart Educations Safeguarding and registration criteria have been met and all pre-employment checks and paperwork have been completed correctly before candidates are cleared to work in schools. As part of the Compliance Team, Compliance Officers share the responsibility for monitoring and maintaining the database of Live candidates ready for placement in schools.
The ideal candidate will;
• Be diligent in checking details,
• Have experience of pre-employment checks and vetting candidates to be placed in school or childcare settings, including judging whether references are sufficient,
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills,
• Have good IT skills, including using a database and all aspects of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Be able to organise their own workload to meet deadlines,
• Hold relevant qualifications, or be able to demonstrate significant office based experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Checking new files are correctly completed and loading Compliance Criteria to the Matchmaker database.
• Advising consultants why files have been rejected and what work needs to be done before the candidates can be cleared for work.
• Monitoring candidates due to expire, pre-empting and gaining further documents as necessary. • Monitoring Compliance Team inbox, dealing with any requests that fall within this role.
• Auditing files (including following up any mistakes with consultants -granting extensions where necessary to get files completed to standard)
• DBS Countersignatory. Checking correct documentary evidence supplied, countersigning DBS applications, advising consultants on errors. Contacting candidates about form errors where required and to request copies of received certificates.
• Checking DBS Update Service and logging results.
• Logging E-Bulk DBS's in process and received results.
• Contacting DBS for queries and guidance as necessary.
• Logging and scanning to MM received DBS certificates, notifying consultants of DBSs with Cautions/Convictions/Additional Info.
• Scanning files and documents for online storage.
• Running checks of candidates' teaching qualifications.
• Running Barred List checks.
• Completing status changes.
• Ensuring all tasks are completed as quickly and efficiently as possible and always within 24 hour deadline.
• Provide Reception cover as and when required. • Responsibility for record keeping of all on line training for candidates, Logging on the database when candidates have completed safeguarding and other training courses.
• Producing safeguarding confirmations for schools
• Generally assisting the Sales Team and other tasks determined by the needs of the business

Start Date February 2020
Hours: Part Time 3 days a week 8:30am - 4:30am
Salary: £10,800 pro rata
