A brilliant Further Education college near Brentwood are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with a young adult with severe Autism. You will be helping them with their varied college curriculum but also teaching them the life and social skills they will need to leave education as independent and confident individuals.

Your responsibilities will include:

-Helping to build students’ confidence and motivation

-Acting as a liaison between tutor and student

-Physically supporting learner, pushing wheelchairs, working with animals and working outside in all weathers

-Supporting learners with managing behaviour and accessing the curriculum

-Ensuring accurate student records are maintained

An ideal candidate may possess the following skills and capabilities:

-Be able to adapt to a range of working environments and different learning abilities

-Have an understanding of health and safety implications

-Be self-motivated and have the ability to work as part of a team

-Significant experience working with young people or adults with a range of learning difficulties

-GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-Up to date Manual Handling training
